Teacher of Business Studies
Phillip Mallon - Phillip Mallon
I am a graduate of Dundalk Institute of Technology in my native Ireland where I completed a Bachelor of Business Studies. I subsequently completed an MA in Adult Learning and Global Change through Linkoping University, Sweden and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education specialising in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.

I first came to China in 2019 to work with a Canadian International School teaching Business and Economics on the British Columbia curriculum but since 2022 I have been working at Cambridge curriculum Bilingual International schools in Hangzhou, also teaching Business studies and Economics. Prior to working in China I worked as an ESL teacher for some years in South Korea and worked for 6 years in the corporate sector in Ireland before leaving.

Although teachers cannot control the external environment their students live in they can control the classroom environment and assist in making it one that is caring and comfortable for students to be part of. Creating an environment in which learners are comfortable to speak up and are not afraid of making mistakes I believe is crucial to a meaningful learning environment.

In my spare time I love the outdoors and try to get out for a hike once a month or more, though I can no longer really play football due to my body refusing I still have big interest in it. I also always try to have a book that I am reading at a given time and also enjoy playing guitar and singing when encouraged!
