Having graduated from the University of Bedfordshire, Joe began his teaching career in the UK, where he taught across both primary and secondary schools for six years. During this time, Joe delivered lessons to students from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5, including GCSE and A-Level, before moving to Shanghai in 2018.
Since arriving in Shanghai, Joe has held leadership positions including Head of Secondary PE at NACIS Shanghai and later at another international school in the city. He joined NAIS Pudong in 2024, bringing with him a strong background in both physical education and science instruction. In addition to his PE expertise, Joe is an experience IB Sports Science teacher. Under his guidance, NAIS Pudong students have achieved outstanding results, including level 7 awards in recent years. The course incorporates advanced scientific content that goes beyond Key Stage 3 science standards.
Growing up, Joe was a keen sportsman and played cricket and rugby from a young age until relocating to China. He currently serves as the 1st XI captain of the Shanghai Cricket Club Daredevils. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling across China and beyond with his wife and young son, as well as spending quality time with their two rescue dogs.
