What is a magic moment for you?
I think it's magical when children in the classroom have that 'light bulb' moment and begin to apply taught skills independently. For example, we use our phonics scheme to teach the children the skills to read and write daily. However, it's truly a magic moment when they realize they can write a card or letter to a friend all by themselves often stating, "I know how to write that sound because we learned it phonics".
What made you choose to become a teacher?
I will never forget the teachers throughout my school years who demonstrated patience, understanding and genuine care for my development. Everyday, as a teacher at NAISNY, I am reminded of why I chose to become a teacher and have the privilege to not only teach academic skills but help children the thrive and achieve their ambitions.
What excites you to most about the Early Years?
I am delighted to be part of the Early Years team at Nord Anglia School New York, and I am particularly enthusiastic about our child-centered approach to learning, which is based on each pupil’s interests so they can prosper and achieve their best.
